Done for the Gotham Girls fashion contest.
It's pretty imperfect, it was a one-shotter devised over about 5 hours today. I'm ashamed to say I absolutely fail at backgrounds and my shading was pretty half-assed. Aaaanyway. Original was A4 standard, reduced it to 2020x2186. Why yes, I do love drawing huge things. |

I dig the line work on this one. The variation in line weight shows both freedom and control. The facial expression is intriguing and the face as a whole works well as the focal point with the directional forces established by the pose and the contrast of detail.
While I get where you going with the coloring, I think it fell a little flat (pardon the pun.) With the gradients in the stockings and the hair, it feels like you should have either pushed it a little further for a bit more depth, or toned it back to play up the "comic" feel with solid colors.
As it is right now, it feels a little more like a work in progress than a finished piece. I'm curious to see how it looked as just the line art, without the color. I have a feeling that it was more finished than you thought before you added the color in.
I do get exactly what you're saying about the color...It was a really half-assed job because I wanted to get it done...I think when I've had some time away from it, I'll revisit it and give it a proper work-over because there are other elements that I want to push (the nature-y aspect especially since it IS Poison Ivy), but your critique is spot-on
Thanks!
also the coloring is awesome, and believe me, you do not need a background. the way she contrasts with the white background is lovely.
and the linework is sooo comic-ish :3!!
the pose looks a little weird, but hell, we all have problems with that kind of thing haha

Lineart has been my biggest battle, only second to coloring, so I'm always happy to hear that it's succeeding 8D SAI Painter is a powerhouse for lineart, which is surprising since it's such a tiny little program.
Can you pinpoint what's weird about the pose? I didn't see anything immediately striking, but it's always good to have another perspective.
oh and o.k i'll tell you what looks weird to me... first think i saw was her neck, looks really curvy, i dont think a normal neck can bend like that. and then her... well her butt, the point were the butt ends and her legs begins, the change is radical, would look more natural if you sooth it a little since she is in a sitting position, if she were standing up, then it look more normal her butt to stand out...
And thats it, besides that everything is awesome, specialy her face, i sooo loved her face (you draw pretty cool noses haha)

I'm obsessive about drawing faces! If the face doesn't look right NOTHING moves on. It's pretty cool stuff. 8D
